If you are a Christian who is thinking that if you and your family are left behind to endure the three and a half year Great Tribulation period, that you will drive up to some mountain- perhaps near a stream where you will have access to plenty of fresh water- plant yourself a beautiful vegetable garden and perhaps raise some chickens, and do nothing but frolic and play in the wilderness, then obviously you have not read Matthew 24, Mark 13, or Luke 21- not to mention the book of Revelations.   I need to be the bearer of bad news and let you know that you are sadly mistaken if this is your intended escape plan.

Imagine if you will, the African slaves fleeing from their masters’ plantations and being heavily pursued by slave catchers.  Many died, starved, became ill, and were exhausted beyond measure before finally making it to freedom.  Many never did.  Had loving abolitionists of the Underground Railroad not provided needed food, blankets, shoes, and clothing at safe houses along the route to freedom for them, most would definitely have lost their lives.

During the time when Christians will be taking flight, we will be even more heavily pursued than were the slaves.  There will be no cars in which we will be able to ride, as there will likely be checkpoints everywhere.  Besides, even if we were fleeing by car, we certainly would not be able to buy gas.  Imagine trudging through rough terrain, mountains, and deserts, the hot sun mercilessly beating on your face, or perhaps even worse, icicles forming at your fingertips, your whole body bruised and aching, yet numb.  Wretched with hunger, you actually contemplate feasting on your young.

The trip for the average runaway slave lasted approximately three months.  Imagine having to fend for yourself in the wilderness for the 42 months that are destined for those who will be left behind to endure these tumultuous times (Rev. 11:2b-3)!

We’ve heard about the end time problems (increasing deceit, wars and rumors of wars, national and kingdom divisions, earthquakes, hurricanes, famine, plagues, wickedness, hatred, persecution, imprisonment and murder of Christians, false prophets, fearful events and great signs from heaven, spiritual complacency, the empowerment of the anti-Christ, the fleeing to the mountains of the household of faith, and terrors, sorrows, tribulations and Great Tribulations), now it’s time for us to keep watch and be ready as Jesus told us to do (Mt. 24: 42, 44) by working on End Time Solutions!

Those of us who believe that Jesus, the only begotten son of God,  died, was resurrected to save us from our sin, and will one day come back for His bride, must keep watch and be ready- not only spiritually, but also, physically- for the increasingly devastating events to come, and for His second coming.

Oftentimes, Christian leaders teach that during the Great Tribulation period, Christians must be willing to sacrifice their very lives to gain everlasting life with Jesus- and they must.  However, God’s desire, above all else is that we would prosper and be in health, even as our souls prosper.  He does not wish that none should perish, but that we live abundantly until Jesus’ return.  Therefore, Christians all over the world must unite to prepare to live the abundant lives that He expects of us- even in times of Great Tribulations.
